Q:  What kind of awning should I buy?

A:  Fabric awnings can be made in many shapes and sizes. What you are trying to accomplish with your awning will be the determining factor. You can choose a retractable or a fixed frame.

Q:  Why should I get an awning instead of a deck or patio umbrella?

A:  An awning will provide you with a large area of protection from the sun. An umbrella will be very limited. Also the can be blown away in a high or gusting wind.

Q:  How long will my awning last?

A:  This depends upon its location. If it is in a clean sheltered area it can last 12 to 15 years. The Sunbrella awning fabrics have a limited warrantee of ten years, and the frames that the fabric is mounted on will last for a longer period of time. In many cases when the awning needs new fabric the frames can be reused.

Q:  Sunbrella Fabrics: How long will it last?

A:  They now have a 10 year limited warrantee on the fabric only. This does not include the sewing of the fabric. Many factors will affect the life of a fabric awning. To get the best life of your awning, the first thing you need to do is keep it clean.

Q:  How should I clean my awnings

A:  For detailed care and cleaning see the Sunbrella web page on care and cleaning. http://www.sunbrella.com/na/care_cleaning.php

Q:  Can Retractable Awnings be left fully extended in the wind.

A:  We do not recommend that they be left out fully extended. Even though wind sensors are available, they are very sensitive and in gusty wind can cause the awning to cycle back and forth. This can cause the motor to get over heated and stop working until it has cooled down. If it fails when extended the awning could suffer damage.

Q:  What about rust and corrosion of the frame?

A:  The frames we use are sent out to be power coated which provides a long lasting finish
